Lancaster-based Biketreks racing team members, John Dodgin and I rode with our 2nd claim club, Lune RCC, the "Edgar ride", an annual ride celebrating the club's 1st president, Edgar Philips. The Edgar ride follows the route of the "Buttermere Run" and crosses Dunmail Raise, Whinlatter and Honister passes. In those days, 130+ miles on the bike as part of a club run would have been a formality. Nowadays, across the spectrum of racing are shorter and racing cyclists tend to train over shorter distances.

Even in wet and windy conditions like on Sunday, the Lakes are a thing of beauty.  Majestic in good or bad weather. Rides like the Edgar ride really show how lucky we are to live in an area that is at a pedal stroke. and... as matter of fact: long rides rock!

It was good to pop in at Biketreks to say Hi to Andy, Keith and the team. Thanks for the chat and squirt of oil on the chains. Much appreciated. That set us up well for the cycle back to Lancaster.
