A platform for developing young riders
The 2012 Biketreks Racing Team was formally launched late Marchh in Ambleside in the presence of Biketreks founder Andy Stephenson. With an expanded line up the team has been significantly strengthened for the 2012 season and building on a successful first year the objectives set are more ambitious with the aim to develop riders that are able to make an impact at selected stage races and premier calendar events but with the main staple of racing to be done on the competitive North West scene.
Joining the team: Jonathan Cregeen, James Dunlop, Sandy Lockett, Callum Young (J), Connor Furness (J),Staying with the team: John Dodgin, Chris Anderson, Gary Spencely, Nic Bertrand. All the best to Biketreks Racing Team alumni Kieren Banlin.
2012 recruit James Dunlop writes:
"I joined Biketreks after year out of racing competitively after breaking my ankle. Biketreks have given me a pathway back into the sport which I otherwise would not have had. A no-pressure and friendly atmosphere is allowing me to progress and develop myself back to where I was before the crash and hopefully beyond. They are the most fundamental step in hopefully a long career.
Being part of this team has not only given me obvious chance to ride my bike but will allow me along with the other experience team members, to pass on our experiences. I have raced as a junior hope to pass it onto the junior members of the team. Without Biketreks the juniors would not have the opportunity to race with impressive machines and great support. The team is there to help provide the youngsters, and some older riders who haven’t yet had the ‘big break’, an opportunity to grow and let them chase the dream of becoming every cyclist’s dream of being a professional"
